We run friendly, women-led self defence classes for women of all shapes and sizes - in the workplace, at home, and at regular courses and classes in and around the East of England.
Most of the women we talked to while setting up Brick Handbag have said that if push came to shove they wouldn't know how to protect themselves - or the people they care about.
Whether you are young or old, unfit or fit, scared or fearless you have the right to be safe and not to feel afraid.
So our aim is simple - to reduce your fear by teaching you memorable and effective tools & techniques which will equip you to protect yourself and those you love.

Want to learn to defend yourself?
We offer courses for women and girls aged 13+. Courses are currently planned for central Cambridge but if you're based elsewhere, please do get in touch as we're happy to travel.

27 September '10 - Brick Handbag is training world record holder Sarah Outen! Last year Sarah broke 3 world records rowing solo across the Indian Ocean. Next April she embarks on an epic 2½ year expedition from London to London, around the globe, by bike, kayak and rowing – Brick Handbag is providing the self defence training! Sarah is an inspiration, and will be speaking at a fundraising event in Cambridge in January - more on that soon. She's also in Cambridge for her fitness training, thanks to the hugely professional Core Cambridge.
Monday 23 May '10 - After lots of hard work we finished the Brick Handbag video just in time for the closing entry for Take One Small Step business competition. We didn't win, but we are really proud of our entry, and it gives you a good flavour of what we're all about. Have a look at the full video here.
